You’re not choosing between athletics and academics, you’re mastering both.
Strong. Driven. Faithful.
It's different here. ĢƵ ĢƵ is where discipline meets purpose. Here, student-athletes pursue excellence in competition, in the classroom, and in their faith, developing the character and leadership that lasts far beyond the game.
ĢƵ Launches STUNT Program
ĢƵ ĢƵ is thrilled to announce the addition of STUNT, one of the fastest-growing women’s sports in the nation. Combining the athleticism of cheer, dance, and gymnastics, Stunt celebrates teamwork, precision, and power. The program is inviting student-athletes eager to make history as members of ĢƵ’s newest team.
Warriors in Action
From early morning practices to late-night study sessions, ĢƵ student-athletes bring passion, grit, and purpose to everything they do. Hear directly from them as they reflect on team accomplishments, personal growth, and what it means to compete with heart on and off the field.
In 2024, 85% of ĢƵ athletes indicated they grew spiritually through their athletic experience at ĢƵ.
ĢƵ Baseball earned its highest NCAA Division II national ranking in program history.
“Quite honestly, I came into Westmont pretty lost in my faith and unsure of where I stood in my relationship with God. Through the team, I was given a safe space to wrestle with various things and work through my questions in community with others.”
Alumni Stories
Kate | Swimming For me, the most important part of being a student-athlete at ĢƵ is representing Christ through being a selfless teammate and a humble, hard-working athlete.
Brady | Baseball Being a student-athlete at ĢƵ is a great privilege...to represent the school both on the field and in the classroom.
Jessie | Volleyball The one thing that has remained consistent (as a student-athlete at ĢƵ) is the incredible support from not only my teammates and coaches but all staff, professors, students, and other teams on campus who have taken the time to encourage and inspire our growth.
Facilities
ĢƵ’s beautifully designed athletic fields offer spectacular mountain and ocean views and attract elite athletes, including Olympians, who come to train. Award-winning facilities have hosted several events, including the MLB Area Code Tryouts, where Major League scouts and college coaches select players for the prestigious five-day competition in August.

Elite Coaching and Mentorship
Outstanding coaches provide personal guidance on the field and in life. These caring and capable mentors prepare athletes for challenges facing them in athletic competition, in the classroom and in life after graduation.
“Endeavoring to excel as a student-athlete at ĢƵ will stretch you outside your comfort zone as you challenge your body, mind and soul to maximize your talents both in and out of the athletic arena. You develop the skills, habits and character that will stay with you long after your athletic career has ended.”
–Kirsten Moore, Women’s Basketball Head Coach
“ĢƵ can be an integral part of a liberal arts education as it adds breadth and depth to a student’s life. ĢƵ is about relationships which develop through a shared commitment to strive for excellence in sports competition. A coach is the most successful when they help to transform a student’s perspective about their self-worth through the physical, emotional, social and spiritual development involved in the athletic training process.”
–Russell Smelley, Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Coach
Financial Aid and Scholarships
95% of first-year and transfer students at ĢƵ receive academic scholarships, talent-based and athletic scholarships and/or need-based grants.
Each Warrior team offers athletic scholarships to outstanding recruits. Coaches use a variety of criteria in awarding this aid. Athletes may also qualify for academic or need-based assistance through a combined financial aid package. ĢƵ encourages everyone to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
WESPYs
The energy was electric as the athletic department gathered for the second annual WESPYS on April 26 at ĢƵ's Murchison Gym.
The Golden Eagle Awards
Beginning in 1995, ĢƵ ĢƵ has honored an athlete from each intercollegiate team with the Golden Eagle Award. The honor is given to an athlete for their accomplishments athletically, academically, spiritually and socially. Each recipient must be at least a sophomore in standing, possess a minimum 3.2 GPA and have the nomination and support of their coach.

Hannah Camara
Women’s Golf
“I’ve learned that growth doesn’t always happen in the big victories or wins. It often happens in the daily and disciplined choices to keep showing up, working hard and supporting the people around you.”
Micah Wilhelm
Men’s Soccer
“We do not strive for our own individual success, but for the team’s. The reward is not the individual achievement gained, it’s a team having one of its parts become better, and who can then further better those around him.”
Anne West
Women’s Cross Country
“Hard work and consistency have brought transformation in my life and character. These rhythms were life-giving to me.”
Fernando Jimenez
Men’s Golf
“Golf is usually seen as an individual sport, but this group of guys with me has shown me how powerful it is to want to win as a team while also being surrounded by people who genuinely want the best for you.”
Trey Thompson
Men’s Basketball
“We had every excuse to be mediocre our first year as a team, but the student-athletes here at ĢƵ are nothing like mediocre. The big wins were amazing, but going on road trips, eating team dinners and just being around each other is something that I’ll always cherish.”
Molly Garnand
Women’s Basketball
“If success is making every shot, you’re going to fail. I’ve learned how to accept the mistakes or the missed shots. It’s bigger than basketball and it’s bigger than myself.”
David Oyebade
Men’s Track & Field
“I had no intention of playing sports at ĢƵ, definitely not track, and yet I was made to feel welcome right from the beginning, and that sense of belonging would prove to be so important.”
Sophia Morton
Women’s Track & Field
“Growth happens in the space between being willing and being supported, between saying yes and being shaped by a community that calls something more out of you, and ultimately, by a God who is faithful in that shaping.”
Lauren Gee
Women’s Tennis
“I am grateful for my parents’ reminders that I am a beloved child of God and to glorify God in every sphere of my life. What a wonderful blessing it is to live into this reality as I represent ĢƵ.”
Joey Rico
Baseball
“I have experienced that through failure, I am given an opportunity to learn and grow stronger and respond to failure positively. Because of my foundation in Christ, I will continue to strive to be a servant leader wherever I go.”
Malia de Jesus
Women’s Volleyball
“ĢƵ changed everything for me. I’ll admit, I arrived here feeling apprehensive and even a little scared of my faith, but through hearing my friends’ honest faith journeys and testimonies, and being part of this community, my heart opened up and I learned what it looks like to live out my faith true to myself and authentically.”
Daisy Marquardt
Women’s Swimming
“The opportunity to continue swimming competitively is what drew me to Westmont, but it was the relationships and sisterhood I found on the swim team that made me never want to leave.”
Jonathan Ball

“We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance character, and character hope. This hope is what motivates me to keep working. I’m just going to savor and enjoy the suffering while I still can.”
Emily Jordan
Women’s Soccer
“While every athlete strives for playing time, what’s most important to me is the fact that I’ve gone to spend four years to use my ability to play soccer to glorify the Lord, while doing it alongside people I get to call my best friends.”
Thomas Reed
Men’s Cross Country
“Within the classroom and on the track, I learned that fear can be a stranglehold on success. I want to thank that great cloud of witnesses and all the wonderful people in my life who’ve allowed me to run without fear.”
